장소를 수식할 때에는 where 을 사용한다.

where	The building is very old.  He lives there (in that building)                                   where                          where he lives.
	The building	where he lives	is very old
		in which he lives	is very old
		which he lives in	is very old
		he lives in	is very old

 

(a) I recently went back to the town where I grew up.

(b) I would like to live in a place where there is plenty of sunshine.

 

시간을 수식할 때에는 that 을 사용하거나 생략한다.

 

시간을 수식할 때에는 (when 을 사용해도 되지만 when 보다는) that 을 사용하거나 생략합니다.

when	I'll never forget the day.  I met you then (on that day)                                   when                          when I met you.
	I'll never forget the day.	when I met you
		on which I met you
		that I met you
		I met you

 

(a) Do you remember the day (that) we went to the zoo ?

(b) The last time (that) I saw her, she looked fine.

(c) I haven't seen them since the year (that) they got married.

이유를 수식할 때에는 that / why 을 사용하거나 생략한다.
